"We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own." - Cesar Chavez
Amphibious Achievers
Amphibious Achievers is a program where a group of BPS students all over Boston are selected to take part in academic activities as well as academic portions to discuss basic math and reading skills. I was able to meet tons of amazing people who thirve on doing well in schoo. I also was granted the opportunity to speak to actual MIT students who've helped me with my desires on my major.
Starbucks Corp.
Connecting with each other, with our customers and the communities we are a part of fosters a deep sense of purpose at Starbucks. We believe we can all become a part of something bigger and inspire positive change in the world around us. That’s why we go out to do community service as a team throughout the year (#extrashotofgood), partnering up with organizations to revitalize and enhance the neighborhoods we serve.
Edgerton Student Shop
Funded by MIT, with capital-equipment acquisitions covered by an endowment gift from the Lemelson Foundation, the Edgerton Student Shop provides MIT students with the tools and training to fabricate almost anything, for their own use or to support research and coursework.
The shop offers intensive training classes of 12 hours per student. With nothing but raw materials, students learn to machine the parts for a flashlight from scratch. While it is primarily a metalworking shop, there are also 3-D printers on site.
